Dayton, Ohio — The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority is offering rides at no charge to any Montgomery County resident in need of transportation to a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.

“Ensuring everyone has reliable transportation access is a key part of making our community healthier and we are committed to ensure that no person goes without a vaccine due to a lack of transportation,” said RTA’s Chief Customer and Business Development Officer Brandon Policicchio.

Residents who have a scheduled vaccination appointment, can make a reservation up to a day before the appointment by calling RTA’s Customer Support at 937-425-8300, option #6. Reservations can be made seven days a week, between the hours 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.. Same day reservations will be considered but are subject to availability. RTA or one of its qualified providers will provide transportation service.

The RTA is committed to helping slow the spread of COVID-19. Since September 2020, the RTA has been sharing CDC messaging about ways to reduce contraction rates, such as hand washing, wearing a face covering, social distancing when possible, and getting a vaccine. The messaging has been far-reaching, as RTA transports thousands of customers daily, with buses serving as “rolling billboards” throughout Montgomery County. Offering no charge transportation to those able to receive a vaccine is the next step in those efforts, said Policicchio.

Dayton and Montgomery County Public Health will post new vaccination days each Friday. Notification of vaccination clinics are available through local news media, Public Health’s social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @PublicHealthDMC, website www.phdmc.org, or by calling (937) 225-5700, option #7.
