(DAYTON, OHIO)… Get paid by the hour, not by the job, with a new career as a service and repair mechanic for the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA).
The agency is hosting an open house and on-site interviews for mechanics from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 16 at RTA’s garage at 600 Longworth St. in Dayton.
Job candidates will get the opportunity to tour RTA’s shop and talk to current employees to learn about the opportunities RTA has to offer.
“It’s one of the best mechanic jobs in the Dayton area, hands down,” said RTA’s Chief Maintenance Officer Daron Brown.
The service and repair mechanic positions require two years of experience in the automotive or heavy vehicle maintenance field. Graduation from a two year technical school for automotive or heavy duty diesel repair will be considered in place of work experience. Successful applicants will be required to pass a certification test.
Starting pay for a service and repair mechanic is $29.93 an hour. In addition to starting pay, RTA offers outstanding benefits, including: a tool and uniform allowance; a 14% contribution to your state pension account; up to $26,000 a year toward family medical insurance; dental insurance; paid time off; access to on-site fitness centers; and a great team atmosphere where you are respected and valued for your contributions.
For individuals not able to attend the hiring event, you can apply for open positions on RTA’s career website, www.iriderta.org/careers.
