RTA adjusts routes for Hauntfest on Fifth road closures

(DAYTON, OHIO) … Ghosts, witches, and other monsters will descend upon downtown Dayton for the annual Hauntfest on Fifth event in the Oregon District, causing the Greater Dayton RTA to adjust its service to accommodate road closures on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Starting around noon on Saturday, October 28, the following streets will be closed: Fifth Street, from Patterson Boulevard to Wayne Avenue/Walnut Street; and Wayne Avenue, from Fourth Street to Hugo Street.

Due to the closures, Routes 2, 4 and 12 will need to be rerouted. Starting at noon, north and southbound Route 12 will bypass the Oregon District using Main Street, Washington Street, Warren Street, Buckeye Street, and Wayne Avenue. Then starting at 4 p.m., east and westbound Route 2 will be diverted by using Third Street to Wayne Avenue, onto Keowee Street and then back onto Fifth Street. Also starting at 4 p.m., east and westbound Route 4 will use Third Street to Wayne Avenue, onto Keowee Street and then onto Xenia Avenue. All reroutes will last until the end of bus service.

The following bus stops will be closed because of the reroutes:

  • Wayne at Jackson, ID #1888
  • Wayne at Jones, ID #1588
  • Wayne at Adams, ID #1590
  • Keowee at Wayne, ID #573
