RTA continues celebrating its 50th anniversary with free rides

(DAYTON, OHIO)… The Greater Dayton RTA’s 50th anniversary celebration has not stopped, and to keep the party going the RTA is rolling out several new promotions that will keep riders celebrating.

Starting April 2, all rides on Sundays and remaining federal holidays will be free for the rest of the year. The free holidays include:

  • Memorial Day – Monday, May 29
  • Juneteenth – Monday, June 19
  • Independence Day – Tuesday, July 4
  • Labor Day – Monday, Sept. 4
  • Columbus Day – Monday, Oct. 9
  • Veterans Day – Saturday, Nov. 11
  • Thanksgiving - Thursday, Nov. 23
  • Christmas – Monday, Dec. 25

On April 7, the party continues with the RTA’s Easter EGGStravaganza giveaway. The RTA will hand out more than 200 plastic Easter eggs filled with candy on the platform at Wright Stop Plaza. Five of those eggs will contain codes worth free rides. There will be one code worth one month of free rides, two codes worth one week of free rides and two codes worth one day of free rides. The winners will receive instructions on how to add the free rides to their Tapp Pay accounts.

The RTA is also extending its free companion promotion for its door-to-door 5310 program. Individuals 65 years old and older and people with disabilities who use the shuttle can bring a companion for free for the rest of the year. To qualify, both individuals must be traveling to and from the same location at the same time and must notify the RTA when the reservation is made.

As the RTA continues to celebrate 50 years of proudly serving Montgomery County now and into the next 50 years, the agency will be unveiling more special promotions throughout the year.
