RTA to extend service; ending promotional Tapp Pay rates

(DAYTON, OHIO)… The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is moving toward an improved service model that provides the same level of service seven days a week to meet the needs of customers, communities, and businesses beginning Sunday, August 14, 2022. In addition, the agency will be ending its promotional fare rates this fall.

The RTA is extending its service hours from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Sunday, beginning August 14. All routes, with the exception of Route 55, will operate on the same schedule seven days a week, with service start and end times varying by route.

The service changes are as follows:

  • Route 9: Will directly serve the Montgomery County Job Center and Elizabeth Place on all trips until 6 p.m.
  • Route 12: Will serve the Hope Center on Sunday.
  • Route 22: Will directly serve the Montgomery County Job Center on all trips until 6 p.m., will directly serve the Gateway Shelter on all northbound trips, and Westown Hub on all trips.
  • Route 34: Increasing the frequencies to 40 minutes from 90 minutes. Will directly serve the racino on all trips.
  • Route 55: Will run only on select Saturdays, between the hours of 11:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

RTA is also expanding its Connect On-Demand zones based on customer feedback. These changes will improve connectivity and expand access to RTA’s bus route network. RTA is combining Connect On-Demand zones 4 and 6 into one zone, and expanding portions of zones 1, 3, and 6. These changes will take effect with the agency’s other service changes on Aug. 14.
