RTA thanks drivers on Transit Driver Appreciation Day

(DAYTON, OHIO)… Every day, before the sun rises and after the sun sets, no matter the conditions, Greater Dayton RTA drivers are out on the road dedicated to keeping the community moving. To show appreciation for their hard work, the RTA is celebrating its 330 drivers on Monday, March 18, 2024, as part of national “Transit Driver Appreciation Day.”

Whether it is for work or leisure, riders rely on RTA’s skilled drivers to get them where they need to go safely and efficiently. Last year, RTA drivers provided more than 6.8 million trips through fixed-route and paratransit service, also known as RTA Connect. This allowed thousands of riders to get to work, school, the grocery store, medical appointments and more. In total, RTA drivers covered nearly 5.2 million miles in 2023.

“Every day, RTA drivers provide life-essential rides for our customers, doing so with dedication and a commitment to service,” said RTA CEO Robert Ruzinsky. “The entire RTA Team, the RTA Board, and our riders truly appreciate the contribution of our drivers in keeping our community connected.”

The agency will be honoring its drivers internally and encourages the community to say “thank you” either verbally, with a smile or wave, or by handing out “thank you” notes on March 18.

Riders can use the RTA call center hotline at 937-425-8300 to share commendations for RTA drivers throughout the year or email the notes to @email. Customers can also share their stories with RTA on social media by going to the Greater Dayton RTA Facebook page or Instagram profile at Iriderta.
