(DAYTON, OHIO)… Seniors and individuals with disabilities utilizing the Greater Dayton RTA’s new door-to-door service can bring a companion for free beginning April 4, 2022. To qualify, both individuals must be traveling to and from the same location, at the same time, and must notify the agency at the time of reservation.

The agency expanded its door-to-door service in October 2021 through a federal 5310 program grant awarded by the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission. The program offers seniors and individuals with disabilities door-to-door service for essential trips such as medical appointments, pharmacy trips, and trips to the grocery store. Customers don’t have to be certified for RTA Connect paratransit service – it is open to all seniors age 65 and older and individuals with disabilities. This service is offered at $5 per one way trip, per person. However, under this promotion, two individuals traveling to and from the same location at the same time can travel for just $5 total.

This service is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Trips should be scheduled at least 3 days in advance. Trips are on a space available basis. The agency must be notified of the additional person at the time of the trip reservation. To book a trip, call 937-425-8300.
