No CDL? No problem. RTA provides paid commercial driver’s license (CDL) training and covers 100% of the cost to receive your license upon completion of the driver’s test for those who would like to obtain their CDL.
All eligible employees are provided paid time off for vacation, sick leave, personal days and various holidays. Earned and paid time off vary by position. RTA provides all eligible employees with Funeral, Jury Duty and Military Leave.
Retirement is possible when working for RTA. All RTA employees contribute to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS). OPERS provides retirement, disability and survivor benefit programs for public employees throughout the state who are not covered by another state or local retirement system. OPERS is not a pension, but a retirement plan. RTA provides 14% of the employee’s total contribution to OPERS. In fact, new employees upon hire bringing previous contributed service under the OPERS may be eligible for additional time off.
RTA offers employees with the option to contribute to an Ohio Deferred Compensation plan. Ohio Deferred Compensation is a supplemental 457(b) retirement plan for all Ohio public employees.
RTA offers a Wellness Program for all its employees to enroll in, including access to two (2) on-site fitness facilities. By enrolling in the Wellness Program and actively meeting the programs requirements throughout the course of the year, you will receive substantial discounts on your medical and dental insurance payroll contributions.
RTA employees have the option to enroll in medical and prescription drug coverage. RTA covers the majority of current plan premiums. For drivers and maintenance staff RTA currently contributes over $26,000 a year towards family coverage for those active in the wellness program. RTA does not currently have spousal exclusion for medical and prescription drug insurance coverage. Many employees also have access to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Depending on your position, the medical and prescription drug coverage carrier and plan may be different. Payroll contributions vary by full and part time positions and choice of plan.
RTA provides Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) as a convenient way to pay for certain eligible health care and/or dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. By contributing to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), employees lower their taxable income, which reduces both federal income tax and Social Security tax. Health Care FSA can be used to pay for health insurance copays, deductibles, and other eligible services and supplies not covered by RTA’s medical and dental plans. The Dependent Care FSA can only be used to pay expenses for dependent care, such as child or elder care while working.
Employees have the option to enroll in SDC dental insurance and a vision discount card. Administrative employees have the additional option to enroll in vision insurance coverage through EyeMed.
RTA provides an option to purchase and pay a percent of the premium for Long Term Disability Insurance. This insurance provides coverage at a set percentage of the employee’s salary, up to $5,000 per month.
RTA provides all employees basic life insurance in the case of an untimely death. Life insurance helps your beneficiaries pay for things like burial expenses and future expenses.
Through RTA’s provider Premier Health, our employees and/or their family members can receive free professional, confidential counseling on both personal and work-related problems. Other services include legal and financial consultation, various online services, child/elder care resources, wellness resources, and mindfulness training.
RTA believes in furthering the growth and development of its employees. The Educational Financial Assistance Program is currently available to administrative staff positions. The program is designed to financially support the cost of undergraduate and graduate degree programs for qualified and approved full-time, non-represented employees. The program provides payment for tuition, fees, and books directly related to the approved degree program. The program will cover up to $5,250 annually, per employee, and payments will be made to cover a single term (semester or quarter).
RTA is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and provides reasonable accommodation in its application and selection process for qualified individuals, including accommodations related to compliance with conditional job offer requirements. Supporting medical or religious documentation will be required where applicable.
