(DAYTON, OHIO) … The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is inviting Dayton Public School parents and their high school student(s) who are choosing to purchase individual Tapp Pay bus passes for the 2025-2026 school year to learn how to ride.
To accommodate family schedules, the RTA will host two “How to Ride” classes on Aug. 5. In addition to the regularly scheduled class to take place from 11 a.m. to noon, there will be a second time available from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room at Wright Stop Plaza, 4 S. Main St.
To ensure enough seating, participants are asked to register in advance for all classes. Attendees can register at www.iriderta.org/how-to-ride.
The class will cover the benefits of Tapp Pay and fare capping. Reloadable Tapp Pay passes are available to purchase for $2 at the kiosks located in the passenger wait area at Wright Stop Plaza. Funds can be loaded to the cards as needed, with registered fixed-route users currently never paying more than $4.50 a day and $60 in a rolling 31-day period.
Other topics of discussion will include trip planning via the Transit app, Google, and/or RTA’s website, as well as a brief overview of RTA services and RTA’s rules of the road and facilities code of conduct.
Registered participants can enter through the side door of the concourse next to RTA’s parking lot located along Third Street. Signage will be posted indicating where to enter, and an RTA transit ambassador will also be available to assist with directions.
If you are unable to attend the class in person, the class will be recorded and available to watch later on RTA’s YouTube channel, Iriderta - YouTube.
