Shift gears into a new career at Greater Dayton RTA

(DAYTON, OHIO) – The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is inviting job seekers to shift gears into a new career at a hiring event on Tuesday, April 14, from 8 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Goodwill Easter Seals, 660 S. Main St., in Dayton. RTA is focused on hiring CDL bus drivers and service and repair mechanics and will conduct interviews on the spot. 

RTA is inviting individuals with a valid driver’s license to attend even if they do not have a CDL. RTA offers paid, onthejob training and assists trainees in obtaining both their CDL permit and CDL. The RTA has a permanent, on-site training department with trainers who are dedicated to the success of each new employee as they work to earn their permit and CDL in as little as four weeks.

Starting pay for CDL drivers is $19.80 per hour with annual increases as you move up the current pay ladder, current top pay ladder step is $33 per hour.

RTA is also hiring service and repair mechanics. Starting pay for mechanics is $31.35 per hour and increases to $34.25 per hour by year five. The service and repair mechanic position requires two years of experience in the automotive or heavy vehicle maintenance field. Graduation from a two-year technical school for automotive or heavy-duty diesel repair will be considered in place of work experience. Successful applicants will be required to pass a certification test.
